On Style

This blog is dangerous. Here I am claiming to be a copy editor, yet running roughshod over grammar rules, omitting commas, and writing in long run-on sentences.  

But this is what I mean by style. While following AP Stylebook guidelines is important in most professional and business publications, more conversational writing has its place in websites, blogs, and newsletters, and can be a bit less rule-following. Again, your audience is important in determining how conversational or “business-like” you need or want to be.

That is not to say that casual writing can get away from the red pen. Some edits are non-negotiable, like misused apostrophes, misspellings, wrong word choices, and typos. You still need me.
